Changing seasons

Changing seasons

Seasons are changing, darker nights are drawing in and it’s time to embrace the autumnal chilly snap in the air.

This time of year always evokes memories of getting a new jumper for my local fair at the end of September when we were young.

Tree Cottage

But this weekend was glorious and it gave us a chance to get out in the garden and have a tidy up of weeds, plants and shrubs. It might be the last time we get a chance to cut the grass until next year.

Dahlias and roses were still blooming with new flower heads emerging on the hydrangeas. I even picked a bunch for my neighbour and some for myself.

Bunch of blue and pink hydrangeas

Its so easy to sit and work at the weekend but as the weather was so sublime we embraced it and took the time out for ourselves.

Hydrangeas

My new favourite mug from Emma Bridgewater in a striking red looks just like the dahlias in my garden. To be honest we can’t remember planting them but they’re certainly a joy to see in our small cottage garden.

With planning for Harvest Festivals we thought our new window display suited the season perfectly. With seasonal veg and flowers it's the time to sort the garden out, get the bulbs planted and ready for the spring season.

Who likes to potter in the garden or are you lucky enough to have a potting shed? I thought the new Emma Bridgewater potting shed mug would look perfect in the garden.  I'm seriously thinking this mug would look fab in my shed along with the dahlia mug, don't you think?
